THE YONA STORY
In the Tsalagi, or Cherokee language, the word for ‘bear’ is ‘yona.’ Symbolizing strength, courage, and health, the Native Bear, or Yona is an important representation of the Cherokee Nation. The yona is very thoughtful and independent, as well as strong and self-contained.
My life and business partner, Tracy Johansson and I picked the name Yona for our company to honor my grandfather, Wayne, who taught me to be proud of that heritage and also passed down the family name - Bearman - to my father, me and my children.
